Mini Film Reviews

Sigh. No time to write reviews, to discuss films.

The pile was building up, not that I was lucky enough to watch a 100 films but a decent amount of them got lucky and was worthy of my time. Just kidding.

List of films that I wasn’t able to really explicitly review because I saw and forgot that I had a blog to keep up, hence, 1271746328 number of films with short descriptions and ratings enough for you to judge if you should or shouldn’t watch them.

Thank me later maybe?

Lady Bird

One of the recent films I saw.

One of the films I will recommend to people– people who are feeling a little rebellious at that point.

Lovely description I KNOW.

Anywho the film is well done in terms of editing, acting and direction- The story was well written, you will dislike the main character but also relate at some point or the other, which is what actually makes the film great!

What did put me off was the ending- too dry for my taste, it also left me hanging- like all the build up for what?

Rating- 4/5 stars.

What is the film about?

An outspoken teen must navigate a loving but turbulent relationship with her strong-willed mother over the course of an eventful and poignant senior year of high school.

Nina Dobrev is the whole and sole reason for why I wanted to watch the film.

I didn’t know it was a remake until I came across someone’s review. Which obviously means I haven’t seen the original to compare the film with. However, the genre of the film is said to be horror/ thriller? Felt more like drama to me.

The film was characters in the film didn’t really come across as strong personalities which is why I couldn’t empathize with any of them and ended up playing Sudoku and dreaming of watching Black Panther while watching this film.

So you know.

Rating- 2/5 stars.

I think this has been on everyone’s list since the day the book has come out and the day the film was announced and then the day the trailer came out. The rage for this film is quite real.

How can it not be?

The book is amazing, the film is directed by Stephen Chbosky (Author of Perks of being a wallflower and Screenplay writer of Beauty and the Beast).

So automatically, I had to read the book and watch the film too.

NAILED IT. I am glad they were true to the book and didn’t go changing things. It’s a decent film to watch.

Everything, Everything

I liked the film better than the book even though the chemistry between the actors was off.

I liked the film better because-

a) The lead was charming

b) The text sequences were filmed perfectly, loved it so so much!

c) I was smiling all along. IT”S IMPORTANT FOR ME TO BE HAPPY.

Rating: 3.5/5 stars

What is the film about?

Maddy (Amandla Stenberg) is a smart, curious and imaginative 18-year-old who is unable to leave the protection of the hermetically-sealed environment within her house because of an illness. Olly (Nick Robinson) is the boy next door who won’t let that stop them from being together. Gazing through windows and talking only through texts, Maddy and Olly form a deep bond that leads them to risk everything to be together, even if it means losing everything.

I haven’t read the book.

I didn’t watch the old film as well, I tried and I slept thrice or maybe more times then that I found it sooo freaking slow.

Then the trailer for this one came out and I was like huh maybe this one is actually good.

So, of course, the story is good. It sure is.

BUT THE FILM IS NOT SCARY. Maybe nothing scares me. I have the worst thoughts ever which can destroy all the humans on this planet earth.

What I did like, from whatever I have seen in the original film was that there wasn’t any past, the story was playing in present and the format was linear. Appreciate that a lot.

Also, the trailer cut was amazing, I wish they kept that kind of suspense in the film as well, even though the film feels rushed it was still very slow in terms of the action and the character development that we saw.

Anywho, Rating – 3/5 stars

Ghost in the shell

The fact that I saw the film a while back and don’t seem to recollect anything of the story but how I felt during the film says a lot about it.

Somehow the story was giving me ‘Lucy’ vibes, maybe it was because the colour theme and Scarlett Johansson, maybe because of the way the story was laid out but it definitely didn’t feel like a fresh idea, also it didn’t really get my attention at all. It was like the film was playing the background like music for me and I didn’t even care much.

Doctor Strange

I avoided watching this film because of how bad people were talking about it.

Why are people so stupid?

It was intelligent, entertaining and the story was on point.

Marvel has just up their game so well, with humour and the casting!

Do yourselves a favour and watch this film now!

Rating- 4.5/5 stars – .5 is taken because the starting of the film is a bit slow.

I saw this film in December I suppose and it still has an impact on me. That’s the kind of films I love to watch, films that inspire, entertain and have some serious good storytelling!

Also-Reese Witherspoon was so darn good in the film.

Wild is a one-character movie but the little pieces of the secondary characters are so well introduced that allows introducing drama, fear, suspense and romanticism to the history.

A must watch for anyone and everyone who is a little lost in their lives, this will sure help you boost up and charge yourself with some positive energy!

Rating- 4/5 stars!

Naam Shabana

I saw it for Tapsee Pannu.

Even though the film was great and the message was on point, I had so issues with the way the story was laid out.

First of all, I did not like the way the helped Shabana and lured her to work for them, uh no. I might be wrong here but it felt to me as if they were only trying to benefit themselves from the loss of the poor girl.

Anywho. The last sequence, the main sequence and the character development was great, which is why I would recommend people to watch it.

Rating- 3/5 stars.

I was bored and had my Netflix subscription, didn’t want to start a series so started watching this.

For a lot of parts it did remind me of Aisha, but then, of course, I figured Aisha might have been copied from this.

Cutesy- one-time watch film.

October Kiss

I was in one of those Christmas phases where I wanted Hallmark films in my life. We all do.

So yeah this was one of those cheesy magical films, which makes you want to have that Christmas/ Halloween miracle in your life, but that doesn’t actually happen because– real life isn’t reel life. That’s beside the point.

October kiss is a really sweet Hallmark film like all Hallmark films and that’s all I have got. Bare with me, you do not want me to be all romantic and gushy.

Rating- 3/5stars

That was a lot more than I had anticipated.

I hope you got some films to watch, some films to avoid.

Do you have any recommendations though?

Have you seen any of them? Do you agree to agree with me?

Until next time.
